Research Day 2022 Best Poster Award - Congrats Madison Lewis!

This year's Pitt Psychiatry Research Day brought together over 400 faculty, trainees and staff from the University of Pittsburgh psychiatric research community.  The conference featured over 100 poster presenters, and judges awarded best poster in four categories.

We are thrilled to share that CONCEPT Research Lab graduate student Madison Lewis has won best poster in the Science Trainees (Graduate/Undergraduate) category.

Her study, Investigating Working Memory Functional Connectivity in Active and Background Networks for Subjects with Familial High-Risk of Schizophrenia, examined human brain MRI data collected using the University of Pittsburgh's 7T MRI.  The study found a negative association between brain activity and accuracy on a working memory task, as well as a positive association between brain activity and processing time.  Complex network properties of brain regions were then examined between two clinical group: healthy controls and familial high-risk participants.

These findings help understand the biological basis for cognitive deficits associated with psychosis risk.  Congratulations to Madison!
